Howard Lederer lived in a family of 5 where he loved gambling on numerous card games at a young age. He earned some additional cash by being an runner for the poker players. He judged he might boost his game by balancing his life outside of poker. The real improvement in his skills happened when he began gambling at the Mayfair Club in New York. Howard told Annie Duke to move out to Sin City and compete in the World Series of Poker tournaments. Annie is one of the strongest women players the poker world has ever seen. Howard moved to Sin City in 1993 and competed in money games for the next 10 years. When the World Poker Tournament grew in popularity, he made the decision to participate in more tournaments.
