I’ve been betting poker now for about 5 years, I’ve wagered cards my entire life starting with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various forms of Brag and basic random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so eloquently called, card on head game. I used to always win, whatever game we were wagering and although I liked to call it skill, it was quite tough to justify thinking about the randomness of the games we were playing, so I was over joyed to accept I was having a long-term run of luck.

Then came Poker, or far more importantly Hold em Poker, made famous by a group of Texas card players in the sixties and since grown into one of the biggest card phenomena ever experienced. Poker is totally the new black, it can be uber cool with several of the world’s leading celebs racing to have their name connected with it. Just a quick flick through the TV channels nowadays and you are able to not escape from poker, and of course there is the fabled World Series of Poker, the Holy Grail and Mecca all rolled into one for each and every single gambler.

So with all of this new discovered recognition, with so a lot of Television shows dedicated to poker, and magazine and book shelves filled up with high quality material written by the foremost minds on poker, when are men and women going to understand that this game is all about position!?

Perhaps I really should not acquire so worked up about this, after all the much more individuals who struggle with the delicate techniques and methods necessary for succeeding consistently at Holdem, the better it truly is for everyone else, appropriate? I mean, if they can’t be troubled to read all of the obtainable information about why location is so important, why ought to we bother? We ought to just be glad there is one more fish at the table!

It’s true, we must not encourage inactivity with advice and assist. However, I liken this to a welcoming casino game of football. Granted the stakes aren’t so superior, but when you notice a player struggling, you aid them, provide them a few advice, ultimately showing them a way to enjoy, love and be grateful for the game as much as you. I’m asking all house players to do the same thing with their poker buddies who haven’t quite got a handle on the nuances of betting position. Help them to grow their respect for the casino game. Of course, do not attempt to try this one in your community betting house, the sharks won’t appreciate you teaching their meal how to swim!
