Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only one to achieve closing table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest gamblers anywhere in the world. While gambling on web poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I believe Hansen is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Buying in for the min takes almost all of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy in for the total dollar value. I think television can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The best players in the world might be guys you have never heard of. Gus can be seen betting on internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in big stakes omaha/8 and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in money games?
